TECH SUPPORT SERVICES

WordPress Tech Support for Small Businesses

Expert help with your website - by the hour or as a pre-paid block. No retainer. No long-term commitment. Just the right support, when you need it.

Sometimes You Just Need a Hand

Not every website task warrants a full project. Sometimes something’s broken and you need it fixed today. Sometimes you’ve been putting off a list of small updates for months. Sometimes you’ve tried to do something yourself and made it worse – and that’s completely okay.

My tech support hours give you direct access to expert WordPress help without the overhead of a retainer or the delay of a full project quote. You tell me what needs doing, I estimate how long it’ll take, and I get it done.

This is separate from my Website Care Plans – which handle your routine monthly maintenance. Tech support hours are for the other stuff: the one-offs, the updates, the fixes, the things on your to-do list that keep getting pushed to next week.

OPTION 1

Ad Hoc Support: support as and when you need it

Pay as you go - from £67

The simplest option. You have something that needs doing, you get in touch, I give you an estimate, and once you’re happy I crack on. Billed at my standard hourly rate, invoiced on completion.

Minimum charge: 1 hour
Rate: £67/hour (standard) · £135/hour (rush/out-of-hours — 48-hour turnaround)
Billed in: 30-minute increments after the first hour
Priority: Pre-paid blocks take priority; ad hoc work is fitted around current projects and availability

Is Ad Hoc Support Right for You?

Ad hoc hours work well if you:

  • Only occasionally need help and don’t want an ongoing commitment
  • Have a specific one-off task or small project in mind
  • Are tech-confident and mostly manage your site yourself but hit the occasional wall
  • Need something sorted quickly and want a straightforward process

How It Works

  1. Get in touch: email me with your requirements or use the contact form
  2. Availability check: I’ll confirm whether my schedule fits your timeline
  3. Quick estimate: for anything over an hour, I’ll give you an estimated time before starting
  4. Payment: ad hoc hours are paid upfront before work begins
  5. I get to work: you’ll receive time updates showing exactly what was done and how long it took, via your client portal
  6. Sign off: once you’re happy with the work, we’re done

OPTION 2

Pre-Paid Support Blocks: support for your website

Better value · Priority access · Flexible use

If you know you’ll need regular help but don’t want the commitment of a monthly retainer — or you have a bigger project that needs to flex as it evolves — a pre-paid block of hours makes a lot of sense.

You buy a block upfront, hours are credited to your account, and you draw on them as and when you need to. Time is tracked in 5-minute increments (rather than the 1-hour minimum for ad hoc work), so you’re only paying for exactly what’s used.

Pre-paid clients also get priority in my schedule over ad hoc requests — so if you need something done quickly, having a block already in place means faster turnaround.

Is a Pre-Paid Block Right for You?

A block of hours works well if you:

  • Know you’ll want help regularly but aren’t sure exactly when
  • Have a bigger project that will need to evolve as it progresses
  • Want priority access without a monthly retainer
  • Prefer to keep an eye on a running balance rather than raise separate invoices each time

How It Works

  1. Choose your block: select the number of hours that best fits your likely needs
  2. Purchase securely: payment is made via the buttons below; your client portal is set up or credited straight away
  3. Submit requests: use your client portal to submit tasks as and when they come up
  4. I estimate and deliver: I’ll confirm estimated time where needed and work through your list
  5. Track your balance: log in to your client portal any time to see hours purchased versus used
  6. Top up when needed: when you’re running low I’ll give you a heads up; you can top up or switch to ad hoc as suits

What Can Tech Support Hours Be Used For?

Whether it’s a quick fix or a longer project, here’s a flavour of what my tech support hours cover:

Website Content Updates

Adding or editing page content, uploading and formatting blog posts, swapping out images, updating pricing or services, refreshing your portfolio, tweaking copy.

Website Design & Layout Tweaks

Adjusting spacing, colours, fonts, or layout elements in Elementor. Adding new sections to existing pages. Improving mobile layout. Tidying up anything that's crept out of alignment.

Technical Fixes

Something stopped working and you don't know why. A plugin conflict, a broken link, a form that isn't sending, a page that won't load correctly, a redirect that's gone wrong. I'll investigate and resolve.

Plugin Setup & Configuration

Installing, configuring, or troubleshooting WordPress plugins. Setting up contact forms, booking systems, popup tools, cookie consent, or anything else that needs careful configuration.

Speed & Performance

Image compression, caching setup, identifying what's slowing your site down and addressing it. Running PageSpeed checks and implementing quick wins.

SEO Adjustments

Updating title tags and meta descriptions, fixing heading structure, adding alt text to images, setting up or adjusting SEO Plugin settings, submitting sitemaps.

Integrations

Connecting third-party tools to your website - MailerLite, Mailchimp, booking systems, payment processors, or other platforms that need to talk to WordPress.

"I've Broken Something" Moments

We've all been there. You tried to do something yourself and now something else has stopped working. No judgement - I'll work out what happened and get it sorted.

NOT INCLUDED

Please note: Tech support hours can't be used for a full new website build, a complete redesign, new ecommerce or membership setup, or branding and logo work. These have their own dedicated services.

Common Questions

Find answers to common questions about my WordPress Tech Support services.

Can I use tech support hours for anything on my website?

Almost anything: content updates, design tweaks, technical fixes, plugin setup, speed improvements, SEO adjustments, and integrations are all fair game. The only things excluded are full new website builds, complete redesigns, new ecommerce or membership setups, and branding work.

What's the difference between tech support hours and a care plan?

My Website Care Plans cover the routine, ongoing maintenance your WordPress site needs every month – updates, backups, security monitoring, and reporting. Tech support hours are for everything else: the tasks, projects, and fixes that crop up outside of that routine. Many clients have both.

How quickly can you start?

For ad hoc hours, it depends on my current availability – usually within a few working days for straightforward tasks. Pre-paid block clients get priority in my schedule, which typically means a faster turnaround.

Do the pre-paid hours expire?

Yes. All pre-paid blocks are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and are non-refundable.

What if a task takes longer than estimated?

I’ll always give you an estimate in advance for anything substantial. If a task turns out to be more complex than anticipated, I’ll flag it before going over the estimate so you can decide how to proceed. I’ll never run over without your agreement.

What's the rush rate for?

My standard rate is £67/hour for work fitted into my normal schedule. The rush rate of £134/hour applies to work requested with a 48-hour turnaround, or to evening/weekend work outside standard hours.

How do I submit tasks?

Existing clients use the client portal to submit and track requests. New clients start with an email or contact form so I can get a feel for what’s needed before setting up portal access.
